WTF?! Outrageously Expensive Office Supplies
With emails and instant messaging, office supplies are slowly becoming obsolete. But for us stationary freaks we can’t help decorating our desks with cutesy pen holders, modern desk organizers and chic staplers. All for a reasonable price of course.
We’ve done some extensive research and found some outrageously priced office supplies that will make even those most stationary obsessed say WTF!
1. “Basket of Flowers” Paperweight — USD 258,000
Paper weights are pretty much useless in an office setting, it’s not like you need it unless you have a crazy draft in your building. They are more of a statement piece and for USD 258,000 it better make a HUGE statement. The “Basket of Flowers” paperweight dates back to the mid-19th century, which is probably why it sold for so much back in the 90’s. The person who bought this is either flexin’ on all of us by buying a paperweight that is as much as a small house or they’re just really into antiques.
2. 18K Gold Paper Clip — USD 1,500
The average price for one paper clip is about USD 0.0048. So for 312,500 times the amount of a normal paper clip you can get yourself a 18K gold paper clip from Tiffany & Co! This thing better keep your documents together well or get you some street cred for being the same price as a basic Macbook Pro.
3. Fulgor Nocturnus by Tibaldi — USD 8 Million
This one hurts our hearts a
little lot. A whopping 8 million USD for a diamond and ruby encrusted pen. 945 black diamonds and 123 rubies to be exact. The Flugor Nocturnus was crafted for a charity auction in Shanghai so unfortunately if you were in the market to drop 8 million dollars on a pen you’re out of luck, but at least that money went to a good cause.
4. British Guiana One-Cent Magenta — USD 9.5 Million
Snail mail is becoming a thing of the past, but it one point was a crucial supply in every office. Everyone was using stamps, which is probably why this one that was previously owned by millionaire and murderer John E. du Pont from 1856 sold for USD 9.5 million.
5. 24K Gold Printer — USD 20,000
Can you even imagine the design meeting for this?
“Let’s take a printer and plate it with 24K gold” and someone was like yes, let’s do that and make is USD 20,000. At least it’ll looks dope af when you’re printing if you’re willing to pay the price of a small economy car for a printer.
6. Ember Coffee Mug — USD 150
Paying USD 10-15 for a coffee mug is reasonable. Even if you’re trying to splurge USD 30-40 is doable, but 150 for a coffee mug is a bit much. Although, if you have a strong hatred for your coffee getting cold the Ember Travel Mug is for you. The technology in the mug allows you to keep your caffeine at your desired temperature.
7. Kenchii Charmer Spider Model Scissors — USD 2,245
